Litter Blitz

                    Litter Blitz

Hello Bloggers and welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to talk to you about a very big issue. So Wednesday the 24th of July my whole school went on the Litter blitz. In class we were given rubber gloves to wear, a florescent yellow sash and a black badge that said " Be a tidy kiwi ". We had a quick assembly in the hall then broke into groups and walked around the streets with two adults and about 6 children. We walked from our school, down past Hibiscus Place, Quona, Most of Hillsborough, past Waikowhai Intermediate and past dominion road extension. Before leaving each group were also given a huge bag to put the rubbish in. We walked all these streets collecting rubbish and putting them into our bags. I was very surprised to see so much rubbish around me. Some of the items we found were glass bottles, plastic bottles, cardboard, newspaper etc. One of my friends even found twenty dollars on the grass and she gave it to our teacher! We even found a lot of food thrown away. So many people go hungry every month because they have no money and what are we doing? - Throwing food away. So many people say they love animals. Do you love animals? I do though there is so much plastic around us that so many animals are dying. Please don't use plastic in the first place. Please don't throw rubbish on the ground. Please don't fill New Zealand with rubbish. At the end of our blitz we had collected 36 bags of rubbish and the bags were about 1 metre long, there were also 200 kg of rubbish! Have a look at the photos below. Well that's enough for today. Blog You Later.

 Here are the photos!!!

  1. This was an excellent initiative taken up by your school and all you children. I hope all of us realize that the more plastic we use the more harm we are causing to the world and ultimately causing to ourselves. Also I am happy this initiative was done on my birthday :)
