Choir Recital

                     Choir Recital

Hello Bloggers. Tuesday the 26th of November was the big day. If you have read my old blog about joining the school choir and going for choir rehearsals to other schools you would know that I've been practising for this day for a long time. We were performing at the Town Hall in the city. There were 13 other school choirs that were doing it with us. My school was part of the B side. We had to get to Town Hall at 6:45 and our show started at 7:30. All the time I sat there I kept thinking "Soon I will be out there, in front of a huge crowd and I have to sing 14 songs." The 14 songs that we were singing were:

  • National Anthem
  • Donna Nobis Pacem
  • Eye of the tiger
  • What about us
  • Les Miserable Medley
  • I'll be there for you
  • Phantom of the Opera
  • Ke manuia te aho
  • A te tarakihi
  • Rocking Robin
  • O moon
  • In Winter
  • Choo Choo Chabogie
  • Don't cry for me Argentina.
My favourite was I'll be there for you. The place was amazing and we had a lot of fun. We sang all 14 songs beautifully and I never stopped smiling once. This was an amazing experience and I would recommend you all to join your own choir. This is a life changing experience. Well that's all for today. Check out the photos of town hall. Haiku

                           Haiku

Hello Bloggers. Yesterday on the 21st of November we started something fun for writing. We were supposed to write a Haiku. A Haiku is is a poem that has only three lines. The first line has five syllables. The second line has seven syllables and the last line has five syllables. Since I love Harry Potter so much I decided to make a Haiku about what my personality would be like if I studied at Hogwarts. I made mine in a Google Drawing and added some photos. My house is a Slytherin and my second favourite house is a Ravenclaw so my background is green and blue. We had to highlight the syllables in each word so that we know there are the right amount of syllables in the sentence. On the side is a photo of my Haiku. There is a link on the purple Haiku to get a closer look on my Google Drawing. Well that's it for today. Blog You Later!

Creative fun

                   Creative Fun

Welcome. This week on Monday the 4th of November, the senior syndicate of our school (including me) started a new activity. The teachers had given us nine activities to do and finish by the end of the week. The nine activities were:

  • Origami Frog
  • Making Butter
  • Paper Plane
  • Play dough insect
  • Pavement art
  • Plasticine character
  • Cutting patterns
  • Lego scene
  • Marshmallow maths

At first the teachers put us into groups of eight. They asked us what groups we wanted to be in and we had to put our hand up for which one we wanted. My first activity was Origami frog. I was with one of my friends, Neeve. We did all our activities together but we didn't have time to finish all. We finished everything besides Plasticine character. My favourite activity out of all of these was creating a Lego scene. Me, Neeve and Ama, our other friend, created a house all together and it looked a bit like a Chinese house. We were going to put our Plasticine characters in it. I was going to make a cat, Neeve was going to make a panda and Ama was going to make a squirrel. Here are some photos of our house. Well that's all for today. Blog You Later.

MIndfulness

                     Mindfulness

Hello Bloggers and welcome back. On Wednesday, the 30th of October I went for a one day Mindfulness programme. At first I thought that I was going to be alone because none of my friends were doing this program. I had been chosen for this along with some other people. I soon found out that some people who had been chosen had said no and that my friends Abigail and Chimay were doing it with me. We had to take our shoes off before we stepped onto the mat.

We started by introducing ourselves to each other. Then we did some kinds of breathing. We first learned how to do candle breath in easy pose. Easy pose is when you cross your legs and sit with your hands on your knees. Then we did Balloon breathing. Then we had to buddy up and I was with Abigail. We had to make eye contact with the other person for a long time. I laughed the most. We even made some glitter jars that represented our thoughts, feelings and urges. Later we got to take them home.

At first I thought I would hate Mindfulness but I loved it. Mindfulness is great. I especially enjoyed doing it with my friends. I would recommend you to try it too. It was a great experience. Well that's all for today. Blog You Later!
