Enlargement

                      Enlargement

Hello bloggers. This week, for maths we have been working on Enlargement. Enlargement is when you draw something on small squares and then draw the exact same thing on bigger squares. You have to make sure that when you are drawing on the big one that it looks exactly like the small one. We have to make sure that the big one is drawn the way the small one would look if it was enlarged. In Enlargement we had to x2 on the big copy from the small one. Only we had to do x2, you could do times any number you like. Our challenge was to make a face. It didn't matter if it was a human face or an animal face, as long as it was a face it was good enough. I drew a Rabbit along with it's body because I had enough space. I created a brown Rabbit with cute eyes. At first I thought I wasn't going to like this activity but once I started doing it I really enjoyed it. I was a lot of fun. Once we were done drawing we could colour. It was a lovely activity. Here is a photo of my small Rabbit and my big Rabbit. That's all. Blog You Later!

Pillow Day

                     Pillow Day

Hello Bloggers. Yesterday on the 19-9-19 was Pillow Day at our school. We had to bring a pillow and we would be using them all day in class. The teachers had come up with a lot of amazing ideas for Pillow Day. The pillow that I brought was a flipping sequins pillow. It could turn from gold to pink. It was very fun to draw on. We got to sit on our pillows or cushions while we were working.

Our first activity for the day was to design a cover for the pillows in our art books. Our pillows should have a growth mindset quote or message on it and if we wanted we could add a design. My message was " It's our choices that shows what we truly are, far more than out abilities". On one page we had to practise using different fonts. On the other page we had to draw a pillow and write our message or quote on it as our final copy. During maths and our Duffy assembly we got to sit on our pillows.

Once we got our Duffy Books we were given a little buddy from the junior classes and we had to read them their story and share our pillow with them. Me and my friends were not given a buddy as all of them were gone so we got to read our own books and relax on our pillows. Then we played a quiz game called Kahoot. Then we just did some finishing.

Our teachers decided that once we have decided on a final cover for our pillows and then we will make an actual cover for them. We will use fabric paint to paint the words on an then they will be ready to put onto our pillows. There is a photo below of my pillow tat I designed in my art book. Once my pillow is done I will show you all the finished result. Blog You Later!

Maori Gods Art

                 Maori Gods Art

Hello and welcome back. This week was Maori Language Week. We have been focusing on Maori legends. The legend we read was " In The Beginning". It is about Papa, mother earth, Ranginui, father sky, and their 6 sons. The sons are:
Tangaroa, Tane, Tu, Huamia, Rongo and Tawhitimatea. Once we read the story we had to choose a son from the story and we had to draw it the way we would want them to look. We were allowed to change the gender of the god if we wanted to. We could draw them however we liked. We could draw whatever we wanted to draw as long as we add a Maori touch to it at the end. As my god I chose Tangaroa, god of the sea. I changed my god's gender to a girl. I also made her wear a dress that has a ocean print on it. Once we finished our brainstorm in our art books and coloured it, we could do a good copy. Once I am complete I shall show you. Well that's all for today. Blog You Later.

Camp

                              Camp

Hello Bloggers. As you might know the seniors in my school went to Mt Ruapehu for school camp on the 20th of August till the 23rd. Our journey began at Hamilton Gardens where we were in our groups. Each group was given a bunch of papers that had photos of the different gardens on it. The photo didn't tell us which garden that particular photo was from. We had to go around Hamilton Gardens and try and find the right name for each of the photos.

Next we went to the Edmond Hillary Walkway. Over there, there were a lot of different boards that gave us information about a particular thing. Our groups had 8 people in them. We were given 4 pieces of paper in our group of 8 people. The paper would have a photo of a particular board and it would tell you the title of the board. Under the title there were 2 or 3 questions. We had to find that board and then find the answer to the questions written below the title. My group was the first to finish and hand our papers in.

Then we walked down to Otorohanga Playground where we got free time to play. I mostly went on the flying fox with my friends. The park was great but we didn't get to play there long. We had to leave early so we could get to our accommodation, The Crossing.

After the long bus trip we finally reached The Crossing. We settled into our rooms with our roommates and then we all met in the dining room. We got our instructions on what to do then we went to take a shower. Once I finished my shower and Ama and Abigail had finished their shower we got into our pyjamas and I grabbed my UNO. Then Ama, Abigail and me played UNO in the dining room until it was time for bed.

The next day we woke up and got our stuff ready for the day. We were going to be going to the snow that day for skiing and snowboarding. I was skiing. We were allowed to get some money because there was a cafe on the mountain where we could buy hot chips and hot chocolate. First we went tobogganing. I liked going down but I hated going up the magic carpet. I couldn't stand straight on it. I kept on falling. Then we ate our morning tea and I bought my hot chips and a cookie. Then we went on the gondolas with our group. After that we skied and then we got free time in the snow. When we were back at The Crossing we had a shower and then we got free time again. First before free time we ate dinner and dessert - It was amazing food! Such good food that I can't even describe it. Then we got to watch a movie only if we wanted to.

The day after was just the same but we got a lot more free time since it was our last day in the snow. When we got back to The Crossing we ate dinner just the same then we watched another movie. This was my favourite movie. I had watched it before and fell in love with it. We watched
" A series of unfortunate events" . Then we went to bed.

On our way back we went to the hot pools that are at Taupo. We swam freely through the hot water and went on the mini water slide. Mid way through swimming we got out to eat a sausage. After the pools we went to a waterfall called Huka Falls. It is a beautiful place where we took a lot of photos from. Then we had a quick stop at Hamilton Gardens for a toilet break then we finally reached school where all our families were waiting for us.

Overall this was the best time of my life. Camp was a super great experience for me and I hope for others too. I really really enjoyed myself and hope I can go back soon. Check out the photos below to get a glimpse of my camp. Blog You Later!
